Americans believe attorneys make fair-to-poor role models for children, according to a survey by Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. The random survey of 1,000 adults showed that 78% of those polled believe lawyers are doing a fair or poor job as role models, according to MassMutual. That result puts attorneys in the company of the movie industry (91%), the television industry (91%), politicians (90%) and the music industry (86%). In contrast, the survey found 85% of respondents rate youth organizations as good or excellent role models. Others receiving good and excellent marks were teachers (67%), doctors (58%), police (55%) and parents (52%). However, many respondents - 45% - gave parents a rating offair or poor. The highest rating went to 'Lectric Law Library's Head Librarian (99%).* The margin of error in the survey is 3%. * This appears to have been added to the press release - we are currently conducting an intensive investigation of the possibility of foul play. ----- from MassMutual news release, Oct. 31, 1995 ----- Brought to you by - The 'Lectric Law Library The Net's Finest Legal Resource for Legal Pros & Laypeople Alike. http://www.lectlaw.com
